A Light Wind from Across the Pond
We bring you wind-powered street lamps from (where else?) the Netherlands. Light Wind, designed by Dutch design house, Demakersvan, borrows heavily from its cousin, the windmill. Made from high-end sail fabric, stainless steel, and wood—what a whirring, witty and windy idea. Renewable, sustainable, ingenious.
From the Demakersvan site:
Dutch windmills were actually perfect generators of their own. With that in mind, we made this lamp. With every breeze it stores energy, enough to enjoy every summer evening until forever. Contemporary vs traditional, art vs functionality. Shaped by its function, the big prop spans over one meter on each side. It is a self-supporting light source that marks the landscape.

Makes me think of Bruce Willis on Letterman the other night. He came out with a wind turbine on his head and talked about his theory of ‘global humidity’ being the problem. It ain’t the heat, but the… yup

I love the Dutch windmill lamp posts! They look like upsidedown ceiling fans….Decorative and useful. Leave it to the Dutch to use wind to their advantage as they have for centuries.

Anything that uses nature’s resources as a source of power gets my vote. I like what you are doing. As a side line I sell ceiling fans amoung other products. In the process, I got involved with Energy Star and am impressed with what they are doing to conserve our energy resources.
Just wanted to give you a kudos on what you’re doing.

These are great and i love their way of thinking. We should use more things powered by natural resources all over the world.
