Andy Goldsworthy
Whether fashioned from a craggy outcrop, an icy floe, a tender switch or a porous stone, Andy Goldsworthy’s sculptures share a common theme, nature. A quiet hyper-realism seems to emerge from his art, exaggerated reflections of the forms found in the work’s natural surroundings—a kind of patterned randomness. Recorded as photographs, these often impermanent sculptures are imbued with a sense of enduring timelessness.
Perhaps one day I’ll be fortunate enough to round a bend in some remote land and happen upon an Andy Goldsworthy original. If so, I hope I’m alert enough to recognize it when I do.
